This is a directory of Independent Dementia Cafés made up of both private and not-for-profit organisations all over Australia that provide welcoming spaces for people living with dementia, their families and carers. Each dementia café offers opportunities for connection, support and social engagement in its own unique way.

Umbrella Dementia Cafés is creating Australia’s first stand alone national directory of independent dementia cafés, bringing together both not-for-profit and private organisations that provide welcoming and supportive spaces for people living with dementia, their families, friends and carers.

Launching in August 2026, in the lead up to Dementia Awareness Month, September 2026, this directory will help families connect with dementia cafés across Australia that share a commitment to inclusion, connection and community.

Every dementia café will be unique. Some operate as informal social gatherings, while others offer structured activities, education or peer support. What they have in common is a dedication to creating meaningful opportunities for friendship, social engagement and belonging for people whose lives are impacted by dementia.

For Dementia Café Operators

We are currently inviting independent dementia cafés to submit an expression of interest to be listed in the directory at no cost.

Before a café is published, Umbrella Dementia Cafés conducts a review process which includes screening each application and speaking directly with organisers to better understand their model, values and approach.

This helps us ensure the directory remains a trusted resource for families seeking quality dementia-friendly support in their local community.

Our goal is to provide a trusted directory of independent dementia cafés from across Australia.

While each café operates independently and maintains its own programs and services, we take reasonable steps to ensure organisations listed in the directory align with our commitment to dignity, inclusion, social connection and support for people living with dementia.

Each café listing contains contact information so you can connect directly with the organisation to learn more about the services, activities and support they provide.
