This is a directory of Independent Dementia Cafés made up of both private and not-for-profit organisations all over Australia that provide welcoming spaces for people living with dementia, their families and carers. Each dementia café offers opportunities for connection, support and social engagement in its own unique way.

Umbrella Dementia Cafés brings together independent dementia cafés across Australia in one national directory. It helps people living with dementia, their families, friends and carers find a welcoming café near them and connect with it directly.

Each café is different. Some offer informal social gatherings, while others provide activities, education or peer support. Some are privately run; others are organised by volunteers. All offer opportunities for friendship, connection and belonging.

For Dementia Cafés

We are inviting dementia cafés to apply to be listed in the directory.

Before each café is published, we reviews the application and speaks directly with organisers to better understand their model, values and approach.

This helps us keep the directory a trusted resource for families seeking dementia-friendly support in their local community.

Each café operates independently and runs their own programs and services. We take reasonable steps to ensure those listed share our commitment to dignity, inclusion, social connection and support for people living with dementia and their family carers.
