Description
Opened in October 2016, the Umbrella Café, Blackburn was our first and still is our largest cafe group. It’s also the home of our longest serving volunteer team, including volunteers who initially attended the café as carers themselves. That mean a majority of this 10 strong volunteer team have lived experiences and are extraordinarily important for people who want advice on how to navigate the home or aged care system.
This group has a maximum of 10 couples. Every café they enjoy social activities, play nostalgic games and LOVE to sing! They are often welcomed to the café by Graham’s piano playing.
This café is perfect for people
- Who have been recently diagnosed
- Who love to play games and enjoy singing
- Of all ages and dementia types, particularly people with unusual symptoms.
- Who’s family care-partner is interested in joining the Carers Support Meeting
- Who live within 10kms of the Blackburn community
Our members request that health care professionals attend by invitation only please. Brochures are very welcome.
