Opportunity
We are looking for 4 new volunteers at Cafe of Connections to join our exisiting, long-standing volunteer team.
To see if it’s right for you, all new volunteer have the opportunity to check out the cafe and meet the team.
Hours
Four hours, twice per month.
Every 2nd & 4th Tuesday each month
9am – 12.45pm
February to December.
If we have a large team, we have a roster system.
Our Volunteer Teams
Our volunteer team are the heartbeat of our dementia cafes and play an integral role in supporting our dementia cafe members.
We priorities positive team cultures within all our volunteer teams. Our unique UDC volunteer training has a strong emphasis on empathetic (not sympathetic) communication styles, dementia-friendly environments and having a continuous improvement mindset.
Each of our cafes have a maximum of 10 volunteers and a minimum of 5 volunteers for each cafe meeting. This ensures we maintain our commitment to have a 1:2 ratio of volunteers per people living with dementia for every cafe.
We are also very proud to say our volunteer team are also great friends and often hang out socially between cafes.
All our volunteers;
- have a Working With Children’s Check,
- enjoy 10 hours of induction training (in the first year),
- opportunity to visit other cafes,
- access to a Dementia Training Australia training portal, and
- lots of team bonding, fun social activities throughout the year!
